Community Safety

Local residents expect to feel safe and secure in their community.

That is why I have secured funding to install security cameras and systems at local shopping centres and community organisations and to get ‘Ice’ and other drugs of our streets.

Boronia renewal

$420,000 was secured and used to install extra lighting and bollards to make the area around Boronia Station safer for commuters and pedestrians.

Security improvements for Community Organisations

CCTV and security systems have been funded and installed at dozens of sports clubs, churches, schools and community organisations all across Knox. Organisations that have benefited from this funding include Boronia RSL, Knox Italian Club, Knox Park Primary School and many more.

Security cameras at local shopping centres

CCTV has been installed at local shopping precincts, including Boronia, Alchester Village, and Mountain Gate to keep businesses safe and encourage more shoppers to visit.

Tackling the drug ‘Ice’ and improving drug education

Over $5 million has been committed locally to crack down on suppliers, focus on preventing people ever taking drugs, and helping addicts to get off it. This includes for the ‘Dob in a dealer’ campaign and the establishment of Local Drug Action Teams to support prevention activities.
