The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, today congratulated two Knox locals who were recognised with Australia Day awards.
Graeme McEwin received an Order of Australia (OAM) for his lifetime of contribution and service to the Rowville community including to the Combined Probus Club of Knox, the Rowville Uniting Church, Bridgewater Community Centre and the Rowville Lysterfield Community News.
John Charles Haynes, from Wantirna South, was recognised for his distinguished service in the fire services and was awarded with the Australian Fire Service Medal.
Mr Tudge said that Knox is lucky to have two such dedicated individuals in our community.
“Both Graeme and John have spent their lives helping people in Knox,” Mr Tudge said.
“These two men are the best examples of individuals contributing to make Knox a great place to live. It is people like Graeme and John that are the glue in our community.”
“We thank you both in this public way, not because you seek thanks, but because you deserve it.”
