Knox Council will receive over $7.6 million this financial year to spend on vital services for Knox residents thanks to the Australian Government’s Financial Assistance Grant programme.
The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, said Federal Government is providing $2.3 billion to local councils nationwide in 2014-15 alone, including $541.7 million to Victorian councils.
Knox Council will receive a total of $7,637,317 this financial year.
“The Coalition Government is committed to supporting Knox Council deliver the services and facilities the Knox community needs,” Mr Tudge said.
“As part of the grant, over $1 million is allocated to local roads, with Knox Council free to spend a further $6.5 million in funding according to local priorities, including for infrastructure, health, recreation, environment, employment and roads projects.
“We will deliver a further $9.3 billion to Local Governments from 2014-15 to 2018-19 through the Financial Assistant Grants programme to deliver services and build community infrastructure.
“The first quarterly payment for 2014-15 has been made.
“I am looking forward to seeing Knox Council target local priorities with this funding, along with additional funding provided by the Federal Government under the Roads to Recovery, Black Spot and Bridges Renewal programmes.”
