Federal Member for Aston, The Hon Alan Tudge MP, has written to over 600 community groups encouraging them to get involved with the annual Knox Relay for Life event.
As Patron of the Knox Relay for Life, Mr Tudge is hoping this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever as the third “Relay” in the area.
Starting at 4pm on Saturday March 29th 2014, Relay for Life brings teams together from across the community who challenge themselves in a relay-style overnight run or walk to raise money for the Cancer Council.
“The Relay is also a time to remember those who have been lost to cancer or are in the process of having treatment or to celebrate with those who have beaten cancer,” said Mr Tudge.
Last year’s event raised an incredible $92,000 for the Cancer Council with ‘Team Tudge’ coming in third place by raising $6,000. Over 600 locals participated.
“Last year’s event was undoubtedly one of the best community events that I have ever been involved with. It is both inspirational and fun with hundreds of people of all ages getting involved. There is music, activities and food available.”
“Please consider registering a team to participate in the event. Alternatively, people can join my team or just come down to the event for part of the time and possibly throw in a few dollars,” said Mr Tudge.
