The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, has announced the next step in his plan to tackle ‘Ice’ locally, delivering $100,000 of federal funding for local organisation Sport and Life Training (SALT).
SALT work within our community and play a significant role educating young men and women in our local sports clubs about the impacts of alcohol abuse, the devastating effects of drugs like ‘Ice’, and assist in fostering cultural change.
SALT’s programs focus on team connections and building loyalty and friendship to facilitate long term change in young people’s social attitudes towards drugs and other behaviours.
Mr Tudge said that this federal funding will contribute towards essential training and much needed equipment for SALT to continue meeting the needs of the local community.
“They have already done tremendous work locally – now they will be able to do even more,” Mr Tudge said.
“The strength of the SALT model is that they work at the grassroots with local sporting clubs,”
“When you change the culture within a club, you can have a huge impact on hundreds of young people.”
