The issue of mental health was front at centre last night at a local forum held by Knox Rotary Club and chaired by Federal Member for Aston and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, Alan Tudge MP.
The forum featured a number of experts including Professor Nicholas Keks from Monash University, Denise Grant from the Mental Illness Fellowship and Craig Moloney from the Eastern Melbourne Medicare Local. A focus of the event was also to outline what services are available for the community and what function they perform.
This was the second mental health forum run by the Knox Rotary Club and chaired by Mr Tudge.
Mr Tudge, a long time campaigner to improve mental health services in Knox, said the forum was an important part of continuing the conversation about how we can further improve mental health services in the area.
“I’m proud to be a passionate support of mental health in Knox, including in establishing the Headspace Centre,” Mr Tudge said.
“Forums like this one can make a real difference in reducing stigma and alerting people to the availability of services .”
“I have great respect for the Knox Rotary Club for keeping this issue high on the public agenda ,” he said.
