Almost 100 Knox seniors shared their views on important issues such as superannuation, the health system, and cuts to the government’s Chronic Disease Dental Scheme at a Seniors Forum hosted by Federal Member for Aston Alan Tudge MP with special guest The Hon Bronwyn Bishop MP, Shadow Minister for Seniors.
The forum was held at the Knox Italian Club in Rowville and attended primarily by seniors and those interested in issues relating to Knox’s older residents.
Ms Bishop expressed her vision for the elimination of age discrimination in Australia, stating it should be just as unacceptable as discrimination on the basis of sex or race.
“Our Knox seniors are a rich resource of experience, wisdom and local knowledge.
“Seniors play an important role in the fabric of our community, often being the first ones to volunteer to lend a hand at sports clubs, churches and other local organisations.”
“I greatly value their comments and feedback and the contribution they have made and continue to make in our local community.
“It was great to see almost 100 seniors from around Knox at our forum,” Mr Tudge said.
“I’m passionate about forums like this one as it gives the local community to discuss ideas, ask questions and gain information from experts.”
“I encourage all Knox residents to come along to a forum in the future and have you say,” he said.
Alan Tudge has two forums coming up which are open to all Knox residents:
