The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP welcomed a new opportunity for young, local job-seekers to improve their chances of finding a job with the national Prepare-Trial-Hire (PaTH) programme.
The programme is designed to help job-seekers develop basic employability skills (interpersonal, communication and IT skills) and assist with job preparation, advanced job-hunting skills and career development.
The PaTH programme is designed to assist job-seekers in three elements. The first is ‘Prepare’, which will be offered in Knox at eFocus (Heidelberg Training and Resource Centre Inc).
The other stages of the PaTH programme are ‘Trial’ (a voluntary internship of four to 12 weeks to help young people gain the work experience they need); and ‘Hire’ (a Youth Bonus wage subsidy of up to $10,000 for employers willing to take on job-seekers enrolled in the PaTH programme) .
Mr Tudge said that the training offered under the PaTH programme will equip young job seekers not only to enter the workforce, but to forge a successful career in their chosen industry.
“We know that businesses are keen to employ young people, but sometimes find that applicants do not have core skills for the workplace,” Mr Tudge said.
“The providers of the PaTH programme have a proven ability to meet the needs of young people and deliver the industry-focused training that employers need from their staff.”
“The PaTH programme will help young people in Knox to gain the confidence and skills they need to take up job opportunities.”
