The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, will be joining thousands of Knox residents at services commemorating Anzac Day this Friday.
Mr Tudge said services will be held throughout Knox, including Boronia, Bayswater, Ferntree Gully and Rowville.
“Anzac Day allows us all to take a moment to reflect and recognise the men and women who served our nation in wars, conflicts and on peacekeeping operations.”
Mr Tudge said Anzac Day is one of the most important dates in Australia’s commemorative calendar.
“We are grateful to the men and women who have served in our Army, Navy and Air Force, and who have given so much for us.
“It is important to remember and recognise the more than 1.5 million Australians who have served our country since Federation, including the more than 100,000 who never returned home,” Mr Tudge said.
Future commemoration services in Knox will be assisted by the Knox Honour Roll Major Memorial, which will list all the servicemen and women from the Knox area who paid the ultimate sacrifice for Australia.
Anzac Day can however be a difficult time for some, evoking memories of pain and suffering. If you need help, free confidential counselling and crisis support service is available to veterans and current serving ADF members, and their families, 24 hours a day by phoning Veterans’ Line on 1800 011 046.
