Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, today officially switched on the new cooking facilities at the Ferntree Gully Salvation Army.
Mr Tudge, through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme provided a $5,000 grant to the Salvation Army to purchase a new oven, stove, dishwasher and pots.
These new facilities will help with the programs that assist those in the local area who are most in need.
Mr Tudge said the Salvation Army is one of the most respected organisations in Australia, with three local branches in Ferntree Gully, Boronia and Rowville.
“The Salvation Army do a terrific job providing assistance to those in need, including cooking food for the hungry,” Mr Tudge said.
“These new facilities in Ferntree Gully, in the years ahead, will feed thousands of locals who are in need.”
“Today the Salvation Army nationally serves 100,000 meals each week and supports around 1 million people every year, making a real and positive difference to the lives of others.”
