Federal Member for Aston, Hon Alan Tudge MP, today welcomed the launch of Federal Government’s national ‘Dob in a Dealer’ campaign.
As part of the Federal Government’s $300 million plan to tackle the scourge of Ice, the Dob in a Dealer campaign encourages residents to contact Crime Stoppers to help tackle the issue of manufacturing and distribution in our local area.
The program was identified in the National Ice Taskforce Report as one of the most important strategies to tackle the drug.
Mr Tudge said that local people can make a direct differencet o the Ice epidemic by reporting dealers to police.
“Without dealers there would be no Ice problem. Dealers are destroying lives and deserved to be punished severely,” Mr Tudge said.
“Everybody can make a difference by reporting a dealer to Crime Stoppers.”
If you have information about someone who is manufacturing or dealing Ice call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
Mr Tudge has been campaigning on the Ice epidemic for over a year.
The Aston Ice Report, which he put together following feedback from local residents, was input into the National Ice Action Plan.
The plan consists of education to address demand for the drug, more rehab and a continued crackdown on supply.
Mr Tudge is holding a further forum on Ice on 21 March at Knox Gardens Community Centre from 7pm.
