Federal Member for Aston Alan Tudge MP today joined Managing Director of Healthscope, Robert Cooke, in announcing a $180 million major upgrade to Knox Private Hospital to make it the second largest in the state.
This will create 750 construction jobs and 1,000 ongoing health jobs.
The developments, which will start next year, will:
-
Increase the number of patient beds from 310 to 550 beds.
-
Create an additional four surgical wards
-
Create new labour delivery unit
-
Expand the capacity of the emergency room.
-
350 additional parking spots
Mr Tudge formally launched the plans at Knox Private Hospital in front of health staff, local residents and community representatives.
This was very welcome news for the rapidly growing community in Knox and eastern Melbourne.
“This is great news for health care and great news for local jobs. This is a really exciting development particularly at a time when the economy is so weak. Hundreds of people will be employed.
“Equally importantly, people will have even better options and better access for their health care.”
“I’m excited to announce these plans by Knox Private Hospital that will make it the second largest Private Hospital in the state,” Mr Tudge said.
