DayHab has officially opened its doors offering affordable, addiction treatment from its centre in Upper Ferntree Gully.
Federal Member for Aston, Alan Tudge MP, officially cut the ribbon at the front entrance announcing DayHab as “open for business”.
DayHab is an addiction treatment centre that aims to provide accessible and high quality programs at an affordable price. It bases its approach on proven methods such as that of Alcoholics Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous.
Mick Hall, Clinical Counsellor and Centre Manager said: “We believe that high quality addition treatment should be as accessible to as many people as possible.”
“Everyone who works at DayHab is themselves in recovery from addiction. There is a lot of support here and we understand why it is so important to get help,” Mr Hall said.
Mr Tudge said: “I am pleased to have the honour of opening DayHab. I am sure many people in the Knox community will benefit from the services accessible here in Upper Ferntree Gully.
“Addictions affect people across the spectrum. Problems such as alcohol and gambling addictions can be debilitating to both the individual concerned and the broader family.
“The new centre will no doubt help hundreds of people over the years ahead to deal with their addictions and get their lives back on track.
“The approaches which they will use are proven methods, and most importantly, are rooted in individual responsibility.
“I congratulate Mick and the team for getting this centre up and running.”
DayHab is located at 1168 Burwood Highway, Upper Ferntree Gully. The intense 10-day program has a structured daily timetable, group therapy, one-on-one counselling, DVDs, family information sessions and guest speakers.
