Federal Member for Aston, Alan Tudge MP, today announced that a Coalition Government would fund $200,000 towards lighting upgrades at Alchester and Scoresby Villages.
Mr Tudge has been working with traders at Alchester and Scoresby Villages to help improve the amenity and safety of the local areas, particularly at night.
Alchester Village and Scoresby Village will each receive an investment of $100,000 for the installation of new lights to make the shopping strips safer at night and improve their overall amenity.
Mr Tudge would continue to fight for broader upgrades to these shopping villages.
The commitment for improved lighting is part of Alan Tudge and the Coalition’s plan to boost jobs, help local business and also improve community safety around Knox. Other measures already announced include extra security cameras at Mountain Gate, Studfield and Wantirna Mall; the abolition of the carbon tax; the lowering of company tax by 1.5% and reduced red tape.
Mr Tudge said the investment of $200,000 for better lighting was great news for local traders and would boost the safety of the area for local residents.
“Local businesses and residents expect to feel safe in the local area and this commitment will help with that,” Mr Tudge said.
“This new lighting will boost local business, improve community safety and help protect local jobs,” he said.
