After being on the drawing board for decades, construction of the $6m Henderson Road bridge has started today.
The Federal Member for Aston, Hon Alan Tudge MP, today turned the first sod of the project which will fix the missing connection on Henderson Road over the Corrhanwarrabul Creek, linking Rowville to Knoxfield.
“The new bridge to connect Rowville to Knoxfield will provide a vital second north-south road crossing taking pressure off Stud Road.” Mr Tudge said.
“This was an election commitment of mine and I am glad to see it underway.”
“The bridge has been on the map of Knox for decades as an idea, and with $6m of federal funding, the bridge will be finally built and delivered.”
The bridge will be constructed by Knox Council and will be completed by October 2019.
The bridge comes in addition to further congestion busting projects across Knox including funding committed for 500 free car parks at Ferntree Gully station and securing the first major instalment for Rowville Rail – $475m.
