Federal Member for Aston Alan Tudge MP has congratulated the 27 local schools, churches and other community groups on their success in obtaining an Australian Volunteer Grant this year.
The Volunteer Grants program was introduced by the Australian Parliament to provide small grants to assist volunteer organisations in the local community. It provides funding up to $5,000.
Mr Tudge had alerted community groups across Knox to the grant and supported many of the applications.
Successful recipients included the Bayswater Rotary Club, Fairhills Primary School Parents Association, the Knox Stroke Survivors Support Group, Knox BMX club and the Polish Senior Citizens Club in Rowville.
“Congratulations to the 27 local volunteer organisations on their success in this year’s program,” Mr Tudge said.
“It’s great to see local community groups receiving much needed funding to support the work they do.”
“Our local schools, charities, sporting and service clubs form the backbone of our vibrant community and it is terrific to be able to support their efforts through this small grants program.” he said
