13-February-2012

Alan Tudge MP, Federal Member for Aston, was delighted to be at the opening of the opening of the new Knox Athletics Track today and participate at the flag raising ceremony.
The track, costing $600,000 was completed with the support of the Knox Council as well as the Knox Athetics Centre fundraising efforts.
Mr Tudge said, “These facilities at Knox Athletics Track serve to encourage young people to get involved in athletics and to continue with their sport.”
“I am also delighted that the Olympic Park flagpoles have found a new home here in Knox Park.
The Knox Centre has provided thousands of children with the opportunity to compete in athletic sports since 1964. They provide popular track and field activities for boys and girls from age groups of under 7 years to under 15 years and also for youth athletics (under 16 years).
Almost 400 athletes competed in the Open Twilight with athletes and their families from 30 different Centres throughout the State coming to Knox Park to compete.
