Giving back to local volunteers
The Federal Member for Aston, Hon Alan Tudge MP, today announced Federal grants for six local community organisations to support the work of their volunteers.
The Volunteer Grants programme provides grants between $1,000 and $5,000 to assist community organisations with their activities in helping the local community.
The fundraising and community outreach committee from Boronia West Primary School, the Boronia West Parents and Carers Incorporated, was one of the organisations who received $4,500 to purchase computer equipment and kitchen appliances to equip their community meeting room and expand their outreach initiatives.
Other successful local recipients were Town Australia Incorporated in Wantirna South, the Rolls Royce Owners’ Club of Australia (Victorian branch) in Rowville, Colchester Park Pre-School Incorporated in Boronia, Special Olympics Australia, and Special Olympics Melbourne Eastern Ranges, in Boronia.
Mr Tudge said that grants can assist with purchasing small equipment items, including first aid equipment, help subsidise the cost of training courses, and reimburse volunteers for their traveling costs in contributing around the community.
“Our local area has countless unsung heroes who work tirelessly to strengthen our community making it a better place to live,” Mr Tudge said.
“It’s great to see local community groups receiving much needed funding to support the work they do.”
“Our local schools, charities, sporting and service clubs form the backbone of our vibrant community and it is terrific to be able to support their efforts through this small grants program.”
